Restorative Care

Restorative Care

Crowns and Bridges

Dental crowns are manufactured or artificial teeth that are either made of porcelain or ceramic. They are carefully designed to mimic or match the colour and texture of the existing teeth. These are used for restoration purposes when teeth become heavily damaged or decayed. Once they are installed/applied, the damaged tooth would look better and stronger.

Dental crowns can help fix the following dental problems:

  • Fractured tooth
  • Damaged tooth
  • Tooth weakened by decay
  • Severely discoloured tooth
  • Misshapen tooth
  • Dental bridge that needs an anchor

Dental bridges are meant to fix large tooth gaps caused by missing tooth/teeth. Dental bridges are made of an artificial tooth with two porcelain crowns placed on the adjacent teeth. They provide a strong support structure and they reduce slippage and movement inside the mouth. They are also designed to look as similar to your natural or original teeth.

Dental bridges can do the following:

  • Replace missing tooth/teeth
  • Stabilize uncomfortable dentures
  • Provide a strong support structure
  • Reduce slippage

Complete and Partial Dentures

Complete Dentures are removable missing teeth replacements that are administered for patients who need a full or complete teeth replacement because they have lost all or majority of their teeth and will then need ones that are made of prosthetics. Before complete dentures are applied/installed, a couple of existing teeth that were left need to be extracted first. The complete denture will then be put into place once the mouth has fully healed from the extractions by the end of 8-12 weeks.

Partial Dentures are removable missing teeth replacements for patients who want to replace some of their missing/extracted teeth. By replacing one or two missing teeth, the form and function of your jaw are able to be restored. Partial dentures rest on a metal framework that attaches to your teeth and crowns and is sometimes placed on some of your natural teeth to serve as anchors for the dentures. They should manage to fit and go well with the rest of your remaining natural teeth.

Benefits of Dentures

  • Improve the appearance of your teeth
  • Help you eat and speak better
  • Restore the form and function of your jaw
  • Some of your damaged teeth that have been causing you pain will be extracted
  • Dentures can boost your self-esteem and make you feel and look more youthful

Bone Grafting

Bone grafting is a surgical procedure that involves taking a piece of bone from one part of the body and grafting it onto the jawbone and is often performed to prepare the jaw for dental implants.

This newly grafted bone builds up the jaw, making it stronger and bulkier, so it is ready for an implant or another restorative dental procedure. Dr. Khattra has been offering these procedures at our clinic for the past 11 years. She has done extensive training and continues to learn and enrich more on advanced techniques utilized for implant procedures
